Hi! I’m Lani, an educator and educational therapist. I believe that every student holds the potential to become a lifelong learner. My goal is to help students unlock that potential by understanding not just what they are learning, but how they learn best.
My journey in education began in 2017 as an elementary school teacher. While I loved the classroom, I found myself drawn to the students who needed more than a standard curriculum could provide. This passion led me to pursue a Master’s in Education (2021) and to continue my specialized training through the Educational Therapy certificate program at UC Santa Cruz.
I hold a B.A. from Brown University and bring a rigorous academic background to my practice, yet my approach is always empathic and student-centered. Whether we are meeting in San Jose or remotely, I work closely with families, psychologists and schools to develop customized intervention plans and ensure a holistic support system for every child. I don't just teach subjects; I help learners with diverse profiles build the confidence and strategies they need to thrive.
My Philosophy
Understand the Learner
I believe in the power of neurodiversity. In addition to fundamental content knowledge, my work also addresses the root cause of learning challenges, helping students understand their unique cognitive profile, not just manage their symptoms.
Empowerment, not Dependence
My mission is to foster self awareness, confidence and independence. I equip students with strategic, evidence-based tools and self-advocacy skills, ensuring they become effective, flexible, and lifelong learners.
Holistic Partnership
I commit to a holistic and collaborative approach. I partner with students, families, and schools to build a seamless support system that transforms academic struggle into sustained confidence and success.
